Ottawa is not only our hometown but it is also the capital of Canada. We recently took a trip back home and did it as if we were actual tourists experiencing the city for the first time. It was quite a thing to see your hometown with another set of eyes and as such, we recommend that anyone that visits Ottawa in the Summer do the following:
We wish every nation would be as liberal as Canada in letting tourists and locals just walk up to the seat of power and explore its history and legacy.

Walk Major Hills Park and Cross into Gatineau
One of the best walks you could ever do in the world, start in Major Hill’s Park towards Alexandria Bridge, cross over to Gatineau, walk the pathways of the Museum of Civilization to Portage Bridge and then back across to Ottawa behind the Supreme Court and into Parliament Hill.

One of the biggest festivals in the world and home to some of the biggest bands you will ever see. This is one of the biggest cultural events in Ottawa.

Go Shopping on Sussex Street
Go shopping on this historic street where you will find local boutique stores with really cool brands and amazing services. Try Schad or TrustFund for some of the best options.

Enjoy the local restaurants
Go to some of these restaurants for amazing eats, original menus, good vibes and fun times. Believe it or not, Ottawa's culinary scene extends way past the Byward Market.
MeNa in Little Italy
The Waverley on Elgin Street
Play on Sussex Drive
Giovanni’s in Little Italy
Evoo in Little Italy
Go For Drinks at Moscow Tea Room
Ottawa’s go to lounge for opulent nights. One of the only places you can go out dressed up and not feel out of place. Always busy and amazing vibes.

Go Biking in Gatineau Hills
Endless forests, meadows, valleys and pathways through the hills of Gatineau will deliver a spectacular bike run amidst this beautiful National Park.

Have a Beaver Tail & A Poutine
Two Canadian staples in food, both are horrible for you but they are sooooooo good.

See the museums
Ottawa is home to countless museums, our favourites are the Nature Museum, The War Museum, The Royal Mint and The National Art Gallery.

See what the hype is all about. Canadian football at its best, the games are always sold out!

Honourable Mentions:
Shopping in the Rideau Centre and Bayshore Mall
If you're around for July 1st, then you MUST experience Canada Day in the downtown core and see the fireworks from Major Hills Park at 10PM
Having dinner at one of the many new restaurants in Lansdowne Park where the CFL games take place
If you're visiting during the fall and winter, go to a Sens game at the Canadian Tire Centre
Stroll down the Rideau Canal
