As famous as the 6ix has gotten, there are still tid bits of information many people confuse, misconceptions and straight made up "facts". Here are 10 Toronto facts that will make you love the city a little more and clear up any confusion you may have had.

1. Toronto Island lies on top of a 900-acre floating sandbag.

2. Toronto has the third largest percentage of immigrants in the world behind Miami and Dubai. It's also home to over 100 spoken language and dialects.

3. Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is widely noted as the second most prestigious in the world right behind Cannes.

4. Toronto has the largest population of Italians outside of Italy.

5. 25% of the total population of Canada lives within a 160 km (100 mile) radius of Toronto.

6. There are over 8000 restaurants in Toronto.

7. Toronto is NOT the capital of Canada, that would be Ottawa.

8. Hosting 10 000 costumed performers, Caribana Parade is the longest in North America. It's over a 3.6 km (2.5 miles) stretch.

9. Yonge Street is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest street in the world - 1896 km (1200 miles).

10. The Toronto Maple Leafs have not won a Stanley Cup since 1967.
