Picks for the best cottage-worthy non-fiction books to read this summer:
But What If We’re Wrong? Thinking About the Present As If It Were the Past – By Chuck Klosterman
This is a book about the idea that most of what we think we know for certain right now might actually be wrong. Human history tells us that our current certitude about what we believe will, in all likelihood, be disproven in the years to come. It’s a humbling exercise to question our beliefs and we could all use a bit of that, I think. Plus it makes for great conversation at summer get-togethers.

Your Favorite Band is Killing Me
– By Steven Hyden
This is a fun read. I enjoyed this book a lot because Hyden doesn’t focus on who won these particular pop rivalries. Instead he writes about what they might mean or not mean and why that might or might not be important right now.

Hamilton: The Revolution – By Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter
This feels like an obvious one right now because everyone has heard of it but it really is a great story about how this Broadway musical became a phenomenon. It also reminds us that America was built by bold upstarts and brilliant outsiders who grab hold of opportunity.
YES WAY ROSE
Coined “Summer Water” on the streets of NYC and in the Hamptons, Rose is setting a new cultural phenomena in North America. From “Pinknic” in the parks to “All-Day Rose” events, what started on the southern coast of France in the Provence region decades ago now fills our summer glasses here in Canada and the USA. It’s not only incredibly refreshing when chilled on ice but extra dry Rose has a low sugar content for those of us watching our diet.

Editors’ top choices:
Miraval (owned by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt),
Whispering Angel from Cote du Province, France
Norman Hardi County Rose from Prince Edward County, Canada.

Blinkist
This app changed my life. It offers summaries of all the best non-fiction books in notes and audio form, condensed into fifteen minutes. If you like what you read you can buy the book but it allows for a deeper understanding before you make the leap to purchase.

Clear
This just has to be the most beautifully designed “to-do” app there is. And just like a tidy desk makes you feel calm, focused and productive, so does this gorgeous looking app. Get to work.

Calm
This meditation app starts you out with a seven-day program to get you into the practice of meditation. There is also a seven-day sleep program for people who are having difficulty sleeping. Thankfully that’s not me, but I have recommended it - heard good things.
Wear White Denim Like a Fashion Blogger
The key to pulling off white jeans is first being immaculate. Keep a few clean pairs on stand-by and swap them in at the first sign of a smudge or smear. Second, pair them with a sharp navy blazer and an open white or pastel shirt for classic appeal. Lastly, in terms of shoes, mahogany double monk straps, white tennis shoes or mesh leather slip-ons are all good options. Now just add a smile and positive outlook.
